For Christmas I got the Oliver + S: Little Things to Sew book and I have finally made something from the book. C1 has flown 4 times in the past year and quite frankly I don’t enjoy carrying all his things that we’ll need for on the airplane. His snacks, bottles, extra clothes, diapers, wipes; the list can go on. I decided to make him a back pack so he can carry his own things.
He enjoys running around the airports and riding along the moving walk ways. It’s pretty cute to watch him run around, but how much cuter would it be for him to have his own back pack? LOVE IT! We just flew again, so a few days before I whipped him up his backpack. The hardest part for me is picking out the fabric. I’m quite proud of my work and think this turned out pretty darn cute. After a full day of use it has held up really well. I was afraid of stitches coming undone or something, but this is just as good as a store bought bag. But better because it has pockets where I want and colors I want.
When I first put this on C1 I busted up laughing. It was apparently too full, because he wobbled around and fell over backward. He wore it just fine when it was empty, but with his things in it it was just too heavy for him. So we emptied it out a bit so he could wear it. I hope people around me didn’t think I was a bad Mom, but it was pretty funny to watch.
I think I’ll make some more and add it to my shop.
