I went to a Quilt Show in Payson and saw some pretty awesome quilts. Oh, the ideas and quilts I want to make now. The colors area great, the patterns are fun and the techniques are new for me. Oh, the fun to be had. I even got to do a free make and take using a AccuQuilt Go! a machine that cuts fabric into shapes for you so easy! I made a cute flower clip and also learned how to make a yo-yo too! Great fun to be around other quilters as passionate as I am.
I also went to a Mystery Quilt night. They give you a supply list and you start making a quilt before you know what it will look like. I learned more about applique and had so much fun! 4 hours to start the top and finish it too!
Every year they do this Quilt Show, and every year they have a Quilt Challenge. People sign up to do the challenge and you get a fat quarter of fabric. You then have to use at least half the fat quarter plus other fabric of your choice into a wall hanging size quilt. Then people who come to the quilt show will judge and vote on the one they like the best. I don’t live near Payson, and I don’t know if I’ll be back next year to enter, but I signed up to do it anyway. Now I just need a great wall hanging pattern to use for my fabric (monkeys skiing and snowboarding).
I wish I didn’t live in a city where nobody else seems to be passionate about fabric and there is no shop around that sells the latest fabrics (I’m not a fan of buying online).
Hurray for quilting!
