Might as well

Standard

So with my new Awesome Dollar program that I’ve been doing, I’ve really increased my water intake.  Before I would drink 0-1 glass of water per day.  SO not good for the body.  It’s sometimes a struggle for me to get all 8 cups of water in every day.  Usually it’s 8pm or later and I still have 4 cups to drink right as I’m going to bed.  Drinking so much water right before bed makes me need to use the bathroom in the middle of the night.  Sometimes a few times each night.  Every time I get up in the middle of the night I think, heck, if I’m going to be going to the bathroom in the middle of the night, it might as well be because I’m pregnant.  Now we bought this bottle because I only need two of them in a day.  It’s 32oz and I can manage 2 of something, but to drink 8 cups seems like a lot.  Now it’s not 8 cups, it’s just 2 of these.

I know drinking enough water is great for my body, I just wish I could get more in earlier in the day so I’m not chugging water right before bed.  Speaking of Awesome Dollars, today, 30 July was my first day of not receiving all 4 AD$  We took an adventure out for lunch and I shared a sundae with my hubby.  SUGAR

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go use the potty.

Daily Thoughts

Standard

Every day there are two particular things that I think about.  First is moving.  I so much look forward to moving out of the city and into a nice suburban single family home.  One with rooms large enough to hold all the furniture I need and not be a maze to get in and out of; one with lots of storage space so I don’t have to un-pack everything just to get to that one item I use only once a year.  A kitchen I can easily carry a car seat through without accidentally turning on the stove.  Where ringing my doorbell doesn’t lead you through gates and doors and everything else, just simply my door.  Where I have a basement for my food storage and a garage for both my car and a workshop for Daddy and me to use.  A yard for our sweet Daisy and C1 to play in.  A home where I don’t have to be creative with our furniture to make it look and feel like a home.

My second daily thought is pregnancy and birth.  I very much look forward to the day when I am pregnant again.  I LOVE being pregnant and I LOVE Mommy-hood.  Along with the joy of creating another child, I think about how I would do things differently with the birth and first few weeks.  I will use a midwife or hire my Aunt (who is a midwife) to come to town to be with me.  I would have them make sure I hold my baby for longer than I got to when C1 first came out.  I would have them show me how to nurse right away and be my nursing support for the next week at least.  I would have Husband stay at the hospital with me (since we live a mile from the hospital now, he went home to sleep and feed Daisy), but I wish we could have shared that time together with our new baby.  Although, with a second child it might not be as possible, he’ll now have to stay home to care for C1 and Daisy.  I would have someone there to help take pictures.  We didn’t get a good one with Mommy, Daddy and C1.  I would take more time to do newborn pictures and make sure I get what I want and not settle because of emotions.

Oh, how I day dream about these things and wish so bad it was time for them to come true.  I have to keep telling myself we’ll be moving in two years.  I can manage for two more years.  And Husband and I have agreed to start trying again when either I get back to my pre-pregnancy weight or when C1 turns a year old.  I’ll keep you updated when I’m pregnant again.

Switch-a-roo

Standard

We’re going to try switching from Blogger to WordPress.  I’d like to do the .com thing, but not sure if I really want to pay the bucks to do it.  Maybe I’ll get more readers if I do.  We’ll do this for a while and see how it goes, then I’ll look into doing the .com thing.  I hope you enjoy reading my blog, watching my children (1 child so far) grow and seeing what I create.

This is my life as a mother, the ups, the downs and everything in between.

First Swing

Standard

Soon I’ll get a little collage of pictures from this day. Most kids love to swing. C1 is no exception, he loved it too. Good thing we’re just around the corner from two parks that both have swings in them. We’ll swing more often this summer.

I conquered the MILE

Standard

Since I’ve been doing Awesome Dollars I’ve lost 5 pounds in one week! Now, that’s all pretty much water weight, but it was nice to see a change every day. I’m hoping it will continue to drop; according to myfitnesspal.com I should be down 13 pounds in 5 weeks. We’ll just have to wait and see.

I’m also proud of myself for earning 4 Awesome Dollars (AD$) every day. I thought for sure I wouldn’t be able to do it every day, and that I’d not do something. But now that I’ve done it all for almost 2 weeks now, it seems silly to not and feel stupid if I don’t, because I know I can do it and it’s not that hard.

What I’m more impressed with myself is that I ran a mile without stopping! Sadly this is the first time in my life that this has happened. In high school when we had to run the mile I would always walk most of it. With all my walking this past week and a WONDERFUL friend helping me and encouraging me the whole way, I did it. I can now jog a full mile. I did it again just yesterday. It’s such a thrill for me to accomplish this. As much as I still don’t like jogging, it makes me want to see how far I can push myself next. Yesterday while I was jogging, I made it 3/4 of a mile and my breathing was getting uncomfortable, but it wasn’t getting any worse, and I was able to complete the full mile without too much trouble. No more excuses, I can jog at least one mile now. Maybe I can run a 5K by the end of the summer. I said MAYBE. But I wouldn’t mind a little encouragement.

I would post a picture of me jogging, however, I won’t allow one to be taken. With the heat around here lately my face is red as a tomato and dripping wet. It’s not a pretty picture.

Awesome Dollars

Standard

My MIL does this program with the grand kids that she use to do with her kids, called Happy Dollars. How it works is kids do chores or other such things to obey and they can earn a Happy Dollar. They can then save or spend their Dollars at Grandma’s Store (things she has purchased for the grand kids).

From this idea Daddy and I created Awesome Dollars. A little background first. I’m slightly overweight. Almost always have been, I more aged into my weight. I don’t like diets because I’m always hungry and then I over eat my calories. I also don’t like them because I have to change the things I cook, and that’s just not easy for me to do. I don’t like programs because I just can’t seem to stick to them. Loosing weight just isn’t reward enough. So in an effort to loose weight (from being pregnant, so I can be pregnant again), Daddy and I came up with Awesome Dollars. I don’t like the term fitness, because that sounds like too much work, and I’m not a fan of exercising in general. And I don’t like the term diet, because in my mind a diet is a short term way of eating, I want a way of life pattern.

I can earn Awesome Dollars 4 ways each day. 1. No eating sugar. Sweets, candies, cookies and the like, all off limits. Except maybe once a week, but I still have to stay within my calories. 2. Drink 64 oz. of water. 3. Eat a net of 1200 calories, depending on how many I burn. Track on myfitnesspal.com 4. Burn 400 calories. Now, if I burn 800 in a day, then I would get 2 Awesome Dollars for that. Track on my RunKeeper app.

So I can earn about 4 Awesome Dollars a day. My goal is to loose 30 lb. in 3 months. That’s a whoppin’ 10 lb a month, possible, but quite difficult, especially for me, who has a hard time loosing weight. So my rewards (how I can spend my Awesome Dollars) is geared toward the end of 3 months, but we will continue so I can continue to earn all 3 rewards and keep myself healthy so I can become pregnant again.

My rewards are: for $120 I can get a serger for my sewing room; for $205 I can spend 300 real dollars on a fabric shopping spree; and for a perfect score for 3 months $360 Awesome Dollars our family will go on a vacation this winter to someplace warm, like an island or something!

Daddy is my banker and we mostly do the honor system for payment. Once my computer is back up and running I will show you the Awesome Dollars I created and allow you to print some of your own. Heck I may even create some Happy Dollars for you all to use as well.

*I put 4 on a page and cut them into rectangles. I made ones, fives, tens and twenties.

So far I’ve been doing this system for 3 days and I’ve earned 4 Dollars each day. It a great program for me because good ol’ fashion eating right (portion control), being active, drinking plenty of water and limiting your sugar intake is simply the way things should be. I use to barely drink one cup of water in a day, so to do 8 is a challenge for me sometimes.

Encourage me on my way to becoming healthier and earning $360 Awesome Dollars so I can get out of the city this winter and off to a nice warm beach.

In 3 days I’ve gone down one pound!
