For those of you who know our family well, you know that Husband does most the cooking in our house. It’s not that I won’t do it, it’s more Husband enjoys food experimenting and I cook because I’m hungry and there is no other option.
I did see recently that some friends of mine have gone to making bread instead of buying any. I thought that a great idea and I set out to make homemade bread. Husband of course helped me with my first batch. We are using the Nauvoo Bread recipe we got when we visited. It’s great because it uses things from food storage. Lots of flour, potato flakes, powdered milk, salt, water, yeast.
This past week when I left to work at the Temple on Friday, I finally remembered to make myself a sandwich for lunch, to my dismay, we didn’t have any bread! So I set out on Sunday to make (on my own) homemade bread.
While it did take me a while to get around to starting (it takes like 4 hours from start to finish), I finally made my own batch of bread. I had to half the recipe to get only 2 loaves instead of the 4 it makes. And I must say, it looked good coming out of the oven and it even tastes good too!
My Mothers would be proud!
