So This is What a Sacrificial Lamb Feels Like

Standard

For those of you who have noticed, this is an election year. This is a very interesting place for a family like ours to be located. We live less than a mile from Bill Ayers, Louis Farrakhan, and Barack Obama. I think Jesse Jackson, Jr. is in the neighborhood too, but I don’t know for sure. Anyway, needless to say, the local polity has a very distinct political flavor.

Interestingly enough BBC5, the English talk radio station will be covering the election from here in Chicago, on election night (nothing like media neutrality). I have been asked to participate in a running panel of “common people” that will be moderated by a Univ of Chicago professor. It will be going out live and you can listen to it online if you have Real Media installed. 5 PM CST to 215 AM CST

I feel a bit like a pascal lamb, since our location will be within earshot of the Obama campaign headquarters, and my responsibility will be to represent the Republican point of view to the Brits. Good thing I have been watching a lot of Dr. Who. Nevertheless, I hope in the future to do more radio interviews, and this will be a good opportunity I think. It is always a test of character to represent a less popular point of view in difficult times. After all, people had known Daniel did a lot of things, but there is no story called “Daniel in the kitchen with some friends.”

Of course, with a rare political post I have to tip the hat to Nate and Melodee who are out fighting the good fight in California. If you can, Vote Yes on Prop 8. Keep religious freedom alive in America.

Calmer Colors

Standard

So, this has taken me forever, but I am finally posting pictures our our new place. Previously I posted pictures of our new place before we moved in. Remember the orange walls? And the blue and silver stripe? They have disappeared. We thought we were going to paint green, with a lighter green vertical stripe, but decided that would take too long and went with blue instead. I love blue, it makes me feel calm and like I’m at the beach. Husband also let me sell his mis-matched bookshelves and once we arrived in Chicago we went to IKEA to get matching ones with doors! (Thank you Husband!)
While we are not yet done painting the entire place, the main two rooms that were way off our color liking are done. Soon, as in a month before we move out, we’ll get curtains hung and any final touches done. I hope for sooner, but….

It’s a Digital World

Standard

So, we just got Photoshop CS3 and I’m loving it! I’m so glad that it came with a video of “how-to” instructions. There are so many options with digital. The best part about doing my scrapbook digitally, is that other than the cost of Photoshop, it’s been free to do! I’ve been downloading free background paper, embellishments and fonts! It’s amazing what can be found with the internet. I’m collecting digital paper and am ready to do a digital scrapbook.

I love that I get to keep scrapbooking my pictures and turn them into a book.
Husband loves it because I download free stuff and it’s no more money out of our pockets.

So, Wednesday use to be my favorite day. I don’t think it had much to do with the day itself, but more of the spelling or something. I don’t know, I like things for odd reasons, don’t ask, just go with it. However, I’m not so sure I like Wednesday‘s anymore.

Here is how today (Wednesday) went.

I got up around 7 am, not too bad. Husband made some scrambled eggs for breakfast, yum….
8:15 I drove to school. I don’t normally drive, but work needed an extra vehicle, so I drove.
9-10 Computer Programming Class
10-11:15 Life Stores Class
Walk as fast as I can from one end of the campus to the other (about 5long blocks)
11:30-12:50 Business Class
Walk down 4 flights of stairs, about 2 blocks and up another 4 flights of stairs
12:55-1:50 Graphics Class
1:50-3:00 Math
3-7 work. I work in the campus Art Gallery and tomorrow (Thursday the 9th) we’re having a grand opening for our new exhibit. Lots to be done, so little time.
7-8 help Husband cook dinner and eat
8-9 relax and watch a show
9-10 homework
Then I finally got to go to bed

This is almost my typical Wednesday. I don’t usually work so late, but with the new opening, today I did. Mind you all this speed walking and stair climbing is while carrying a 30pound backpack! And notice how there is no time in there for lunch, let a lone a potty break!
