By September Husband and I had accumulated enough Groupons to have a half day date at Navy Pier and only had to pay for half of the cost. Groupon seems to be the way we can afford to do all these fun things. (if you don’t know about Groupon, go check it out)
We started our festivities by going aboard a “tall ship” named “Windy”. We sailed on Lake Michigan as we helped hoist the sails and listened to pirate stories. The sails were heavy and Husband kept having to slow down so I could keep up. Being pregnant my strength wore out a lot quicker and was not able to finish and had to have help. I was a fun experience.
Then we went inside and had dinner at America’s Dog; a great hot dog joint. They have hot dogs from around the states made as each city would traditionally make them. I usually get the Dallas dog; chili and cheese.
Following dinner it was time to take our seats for “Romeo and Juliet” at the Shakespeare Theater. While the script was the same, the costuming was updated and more modern. A great night with the hubby.
Back in August we had “A once in a lifetime opportunity” so the sign said; but I did hear a guy say that they were here about 30 years ago, so, rare…yes, once in a lifetime…no. In exchange for hosting (again) a few Summer Jam councilors they gave us tickets to go see these Tall Ships (Pirate ships as I like to call them). They sail around and dock themselves so people like us can go aboard and see what it might have been like to sail around on a ship of that size. I wanted to sail out on one of them, but only one ship was doing that and it was kind of spendy. While walking around Navy Pier where they were docked, I was scared by one of the ships firing off one of their cannons; you just never know what that sound could be here in Chicago.
While Husband and I don’t like living here in Chicago, we do get out and do a lot of fun things because we live here. Count your blessing right?
It seems as though when ever we’re all together with Husband’s sister (and family) we get family pictures done. I think this is great and wish my family would do this sort of thing, but alas, they don’t. So, this past summer while we were in California celebrating a 1 year birthday for one nephew and blessing another nephew we went out and had family pictures taken.
Here is all of Husband’s side of the family. His sister, her husband and their 5 kids; Husband’s parents and us.
This one is funny to me because Husband’s sister thought I might like a belly shot, which is a great idea, however I was only 3 or so months pregnant at the time so I really didn’t have much of a belly to be shooting. Normally I like to suck it in during a photo, so it was a little hard for me to pooch it out and lean it out and see how big I could get my belly, just for this shot.
And a photo of just our little family. Although, in “family photos” I do like to include Daisy, but she didn’t make it all the way to California this time, so she wasn’t there for the photo. We’ll get some more photos done for our Christmas card so you can see what our family looks like now. Husband, me, Daisy, and one big belly.
